About Me

It began in 2000 when I graduated from the Technical & Scientific Illustration Program at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario. From there, I spent over seven years challenging my creativity as an illustrator and graphic designer in the print medium. If you've looked at the portfolio section, you've seen that I've worked on everything from medical, technical, and character illustrations; to point of sale, packaging, logo design and corporate materials. Variety is the spice of life. During that time I was also trained in prepress and print production. That coupled with my somewhat compulsive need for organization, I can always be relied upon for providing print-ready artwork.

In 2007 I made the decision to return to school to explore another great interest of mine, cartography and geographic information systems or GIS (a mouthful, I know). And in August of 2008 I graduated from the GIS - Cartographic Specialist Program at Fleming College. Cartography and graphic design have much in common actually; they both rely on clear, effective communication of information to the desired audience. Cartography draws on the science and even the biology of perception, and the mechanics of how we take in information is a fascinating topic for someone who has spent so much time speaking in visuals.

Though I specialized in cartography, GIS was also a large part of my recent education. You only need to look as far as Google to see the power of geographic information. Data management can be dry at times, but with the proper data, the problem solving and communication that can be achieved with GIS and cartography is very exciting. Visual problem solving is what attracted me to technical illustration in the first place, it all comes around I suppose.

Thanks for taking the time to have a look around, if you have any questions, or are looking to get in touch with me, hop on over to the contact page.

Cheers.
